Frankly I wouldn’t trust Moyes with a decent transfer fund .
His signings have been pretty poor imo.
Zouma is alright , Soucek , well , is he in terminal decline ?
Coufal - signed on Soucek’s recommendation and surely a stop gap .
Bowen an unqualified success , but apparently Moyes had to be persuaded to seal the deal which had been initiated before his arrival. That’s according to Jacob Steinberg of the Guardian .
Vlasic - hardly a success to date .
Hoping to be pleasantly surprised.

You have completely missed the point, Pagey.

Trundle, I don’t think you even know the point you’re trying to make half the time to be honest.

So what if we need to bring in a few players? We will still have the vast majority of our current team right now - and any we do bring in can hardly be worse than the ones you’re concerned about losing - so what’s the problem?

“It’s not my fault you’ve missed it?” - Maybe you should focus on not being a condescending arsehole?

And that's another concern. Zouma apart, the rest of the acquisitions this season have been a disaster.

We could be looking at another load of crap coming in for a lot of money.

We'd be in a much better position had we bought a player or 2 in over January, especially as Moyes was boasting about sitting on £100m.

Maybe not intentionally, but that is what happened with Kral and Vlasic.

"Do you really think we’re going to go into next season with a squad of 17 players?"

No. Which has been my whole point, I thought? It's not my fault you've missed it.

We're going to need a shit load of players this summer, and Moyes doesn't buy players to make up numbers. He buys first teamers.

Holding our own against Liverpool without Rice, I wonder if we should bung him up front?

Mixed feelings after this game.

Pleased that we created so many good chances and gave Liverpool a game despite Rice being absent, blowing that theory out of the water that we are a one man team!

But the finishing was dire, can you imagine where we could be with a proper striker. If we had a Harry Kane there is a good chance he would have scored 2 or 3 against the Mickey's.

Come on Dave's stop dithering!

Yep, but my logic is he will now start to push the boat out a little, he seems frustrated. I think he will see this summer as the right time to do that. But then again he has also said it's a 'slow build'

I think we need some real genuine quality in midfield, a game changer who can make that final pass count and chip in with goals, like a Coutinho.

Manuel

For someone who has had the opportunity to freshen up the side so many times I'm inclined to believe that he just won't do it. He's become very Wenger like really.

In the last 2 summer transfer windows I think he's only genuinely signed 2 1st team starters: Zouma and Coufal (he was forced into that).

I can see him buying a 50m+ striker, a 30m player for Rice and a random left back on loan. Then a couple of championship players that might work for the bench. And thats him.

Do you really think we’re going to go into next season with a squad of 17 players? Calm down.

I don’t really care that those players knocked Man Utd and Man City out of the cup. They don’t do it on a regular basis. You can’t just have the odd good game and happily take home your £40/50k a week and think it’s job done. They should be putting in a shift week in week out, which they don’t.

''I cant see a mass of 1st team players coming in next summer at all''

I'm not so sure. After almost every game over the last few months he has been berating missed chances, final ball etc. I reckon there is a few he has had a gut full of. I also think we will see a new CB even if Og stays.

All 4 of those played in one or both the cup games where we knocked out Man City and Man Utd, so they haven't just made up the numbers. But I'm glad you think they do need replacing though, no matter how bad they've been.

And Huffers has suggested Ogbonna could be on his way back to Lazio to finish his career, so that is a very real possibly.

And I think the interest Liverpool have in Bowen isn't made up.

Plus we need a goalkeeper as Areola is leaving, a left back and 1 or 2 strikers, and then there's possibly of Rice fucking off.

Moyes doesn't want to sign players to make up numbers (according to him).

So we have about 10 players there that could need replacing. Moyes doesn't want to sign players to make up numbers (according to him). So that's about 10 players that can been seen as first teamers we need to be getting in the summer.

Why is this so difficult for some to work out?

Manuel 12:13 Mon Mar 7

Yeah, I agree that a lot need replacing just dont think its what Moyes will do.
I'm seeing a very different way of thinking from him compared to other managers in the league.

I feel like he thinks a small squad that plays more games is better as it he benefits from the continuity aspect. He feels like the more minutes everyone gets on the pitch the better they become. In that regard there is no way he wants to introduce more than a couple of new players at a time. And even then, depending on circumstance (are they from a different league etc..) he wants to ease them in.

I cant see a mass of 1st team players coming in next summer at all.
Esp. if ogbonna is back and fit.

Re: ⚽ Liverpool v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
I agree with Pagey, or at least take his point. Does anyone remember must have been 3 years ago in the summer we got rid of heaps of players and it didn't effect us one bit. There is no need to replace shit, or at least not in the transfer market.

In an ideal world this summer we will buy first teamers, then the ones who lose their places will then become bench warmers, coupled with hopefully some youngsters making progress. That's youngsters, not kids.

Pagey 2:12 Mon Mar 7
Re: ⚽ Liverpool v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-0
Trundle, will Fredericks, Noble, Kral and Yarmolenko be much of a loss other than making up the numbers? Noble will be a big loss in the dressing room but he may stay on in that capacity anyway. All four can be replaced/upgraded on the pitch with relative ease.

I’m sure Ogbonna has another year left too, which we gave him out of his loyalty and I can’t see Bowen going anywhere unless we get a huge offer that we can’t turn down. Especially if Rice leaves.

Plus I don’t think that anyone was happy to sleep walk into the striker situation we have now.
